Remit of the Prizes

Recognize accomplished young scientists for their innovative research at the intersection between biological, physical and/or mathematical sciences.

 

 (PhD and Postdoc Prize Winners 2021)

 

Prize

We will award up to 2 PhD students and 2 Postdocs this year and each prize is £500.

 

Eligibility

Please note that, in both cases, the prize will be for work predominantly carried out in Cambridge.

PhD students

PhD students whose dissertations were submitted or defended within the last 12 months prior to the application deadline.

Postdocs

Postdocs up to 4-years from PhD defence at the application deadline. 

 

Deadline

1) Application deadline: 31th October

2) Decisions will be made at the November Committee Meeting

3) The awardees will be invited to give a presentation at the Cambridge Centre for Physical Biology annual meeting.

  

Application Process

3. Nomination letter from supervisor highlighting the:

  • Contribution of the nominee to the work – including collaborative efforts towards multidisciplinarity             
  • Originality
  • Independence
  • Communication skills

3. Reference letter from other than supervisor.

 All documents should be sent to admin@physbiol.cam.ac.uk. CV and application form to be send by the applicant, and nomination and reference letter to be send directly by the supervisors.

 

Evaluation Process

Applications will be reviewed by a committee panel from different disciplines.

 

Other considerations

The graphical abstract from awardees will be published on our website along with a lay summary of the work.
