Synthetic Biology Faculty Positions - Rice University

Rice University is inviting applications for faculty positions in the area of synthetic biology, starting as early as July 1, 2022. Preference will be given to candidates at the assistant professor level.

Rice is committing significant resources to growth in this area, building upon an outstanding core of researchers who are connected through the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Systems, Synthetic, and Physical Biology (https://sspb.rice.edu). With a strong foundation in fundamental science and engineering and adjacent to the world’s largest medical center, Rice presents a unique opportunity for scholars who integrate fundamental and applied research in biomedicine, living materials, and the environment.

Applicants should be scientists or engineers of exceptional promise and creativity. Successful candidates will drive dynamic, innovative, and independent research programs and will excel in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, thereby embracing Rice’s culture and commitment to excellence, innovation, and diversity.

Ideal candidates will develop research programs that utilize experimental or theoretical approaches for fundamental or applied interdisciplinary studies. Candidates will be hired into either the Bioengineering (https://bioengineering.rice.edu) and Biosciences (https://biosciences.rice.edu) departments.

Applications should be submitted to either the Bioengineering (https://apply.interfolio.com/92898) and/or Biosciences positions (https://apply.interfolio.com/92606). Applicants may apply to both positions, if appropriate, and will only be considered for those positions to which they apply.

Application review will commence no later than October 1, 2021 and continue until the positions are filled.
